Betty Faddis Cunliffe of Maplewood, formerly of Short Hills, died on Sep. 3. She was 87. She graduated from Millburn High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College and a master’s degree from New York University. She also did graduate work at Newark State College. A retired teacher, Cunliffe had been on the faculty of South Orange Middle School for 26 years. She was active locally as a staff aide for the Millburn-Short Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross and as a volunteer for New Eyes for the Needy, and she delivered for SAGE's Meals-on-Wheels for more than 21 years. Along with her late husband, Robert, Cunliffe was a longtime member of Christ Church in Short Hills.
