Elizabeth "Bette" Hansen of Stone Harbor, NJ and Cancun, Mexico, died on July 18 at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. She was 81. The Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on July 22 at 9:15am. Born in Philadelphia, Hansen was a 52-year resident of South Orange before retiring to the Jersey shore and the Yucatan. She attended Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia and received a graduate degree in teaching from New Jersey State Teachers College in Trenton. Hansen was a fourth and sixth grade teacher at Tuscan Elementary School in Maplewood, and taught seventh grade math at South Orange Middle School. She was a past president of the South Orange-Maplewood Education Association and treasurer of the Viva Hotel Association (V.A.C.A.) in Cancun. Memorial donations may be made to Susan G.
