Frank Scafidi Nominated as 'Jewish Community Hero'

  • September 1, 2009

Frank Scafidi of South Orange has been nominated as a hero in the Jewish Community Heroes Campaign. The nomination recognizes Scafidi's volunteerism in the community, notably his work as the executive director of the Electronic Information and Education Service (EIES) of New Jersey, the oldest radio reader service in the state. His duties there include fundraising, maintenance, clerical work and keeping up volunteer morale in the face of the organization's financial challenges. Scafidi also works full-time at Seton Hall University and coaches three children's sports teams.

The online "Heroes" voting campaign celebrates courageous volunteers in the US and Canada and is organized by the United Jewish Communities/Jewish Federations of North America. Finalists and a Jewish Community Hero of the Year will be named in November. For more information, see http://jewishcommunityheroes.org/nominees.
