Fred Applegate Joins Isaiah Sheffer for Celebrity Readings
Celebrity Readings, a fundraising event for the South Orange-Maplewood Adult School, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year with a special appearance by Columbia High School alumna Fred Applegate and NPR’s Isaiah Sheffer.
Applegate, an accomplished actor currently appearing as Monsignor O'Hara in Sister Act, grew up in Maplewood and South Orange, and was the president of his graduating class at Columbia High School.
Sheffer hosts and directs the long-running hit series Selected Shorts for NPR, as well as writing for TV, stage, and screen, and stages the annual James Joyce celebration Bloomsday on Broadway.
Celebrity Readings will be an evening of short stories. This year’s event will be held at Maplewood’s Columbia High School Auditorium on Monday, March 26th at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 in advance; $45 at the door. The Adult School is a nonprofit educational organization, established in 1933, that offers a wide array of affordable, high-quality classes, lectures, and trips to more than 1,600 local residents each semester.
