The Adult School Holds Graduation Ceremony for GED Recipients
The South Orange-Maplewood Adult School is proud to announce that twenty-seven of our GED Test Preparation students earned their GEDs this year! Individuals who earn their high school equivalency, or GED, rarely receive public recognition because the testing happens throughout the year, but this year is different: On Wednesday, December 14th at 7:30 pm, twelve of those students, along with their family and friends, celebrated their accomplishment at a special graduation ceremony.
The event was held in Columbia High School’s Black Box Theater, complete with caps and gowns and “Pomp and Circumstance,” the traditional music march played at graduations. The valedictorian, Naren Mohabir, who earned the highest score on the GED, gave a brief speech and honorary certificates were awarded.
