Shirley J. Weiner died on Sep. 11 in Summit. She was 84. Weiner was born in New York, NY and earned a degree in business administration from City College in 1945. She was involved with the Labor Zionist movement, through which she met her late husband, Rabbi Herbert Weiner of Temple Israel in South Orange, which merged with another congregation to become Temple Sharey-Tefilo Israel. Weiner later earned a master's degree in counseling from Seton Hall University and worked as a dance therapist and teacher in area hospitals.
