SOPAC To 'Go Red' for Heart Disease Awareness

  • January 28, 2010

The South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) will put out a "red alert" from Feb. 5-Feb. 6 in support of the American Heart Association's (AHA) campaign to increase public awareness about heart disease in women. SOPAC will illuminate its building in red on the evening of Feb. 5, which is National Wear Red Day for Women, and on the evening of Feb. 6. Also, SOPAC employees working the Feb. 6 performance of Forbidden Broadway will wear something red. Ondine Landa Abramson, Executive Director of SOPAC, points out that, “In addition to advocating the prevention and awareness of heart disease to the residents of South Orange, SOPAC is taking this opportunity to remind its employees to think about their own hearts and make necessary changes to improve their health.” Heart disease is the #1 killer of women, according to the AHA.
