CHS Relay for Life Team Holds Fundraiser Bake Sale on Sunday

One local Relay for Life team holds a bake sale on Sunday in Maplewood

Update: The girls report that the treats include Earl Grey tea cookies, cranberry-orange scones, and New Jersey-style coffee cake!

These Columbia High School freshman girls are staying up and out all night long. Their team "Up All Night" is one of the CHS teams participating in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life on June 15 in West Orange.

To reach their team goal of $750, the girls will hold a bake sale on Sunday from approximately 2p.m. until 5 p.m  on Maplewood Avenue, near the Kings entrance.  They will sell homemade baked treats and accept donations on behalf of the American Cancer Society.

"In the past, Columbia High School students raised over $60,000 alone," says junior Julia DeFranco, who has captained teams for the past three years. "Since 2008, CHS participation and donations for the event have decreased significantly. We created the CHS Relay For Life club to encourage students to participate in the event, form teams, and fundraise. We're looking forward to raising the fundraising bar this year!"

Can't make it Sunday? Support Relay for Life by dining in or taking out from Stony's on Thursday night, 5 - 9 p.m.  Mention Relay and a portion of your bill will be donated.
