Costa Rican Restaurant Arrives on Irvington Avenue
South Orange's "Restaurant Row" welcomes Guanaticos
Costa Rican cuisine comes to South Orange! Guanaticos Restaurant is now open at 261 Irvington Avenue, 973 821-5959, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from Tues. through Sundays, from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m.
On a recent Sunday visit, Patch editors saw and sampled empanadas and milkshakes, an example of the fusion cuisine a savvy diner can enjoy. The menu features many "Platos Tipicos."
Guanaticos, which Patch will feature later this week, is just the latest sign of an Irvington Avenue Renaissance. Guanaticos joins Lalibela, Munchies, and Blue Plate Special as recent restaurant arrivals in the area.

This is great news! Irvington Avenue is becoming such a fantastic food destination. We go to the very West Coast-like Blue Plate Special on the corner of Ward and Irvington Ave. It is probably the best breakfast in South Orange and Maplewood and kid friendly......also the best dinner we've ever had. Shout out to Irvington Avenue.
