DreamCakes Comes to Eden Gourmet

Dreamcakes comes to Eden Gourmet, bringing a loyal following of those who love cake and those love art. Baker and proprietor of Dreamcakes, Heather Barranco, is a longtime local resident. She and her husband live in South Orange, and lived previously in Maplewood.

"I'm very excited to feature our products at Eden Marketplace, Above Restaurant & Bar and the Garden of Eden stores," says Barranco. "I decided to approach Eden because, as a frequent customer, I thought it would be a great fit. Their high quality products, warm customer service, and beautifully designed store atmosphere are the same experiences I'm trying to convey to my clients."

Likewise, Eden Gourmet is happy to have Dreamcakes arrive. According to owners Mustafa Coskun and Mario Andreani, they were looking for someone with Barranco's unique skills to offer specialty cakes to their demanding customers  to augment their premium baked goods and pastry section.

When the owners met Barranco and saw her work, they  invited her to showcase and see her products in all six stores across the New York metro area: Upper West Side, Chelsea, Union Square, Brooklyn Heights, Hoboken and of course, South Orange.

For Barranco, Eden is familiar territory. "My husband and I feel that Eden has added so much to our community," says Barranco. "We feel special every time we walk into the store. From day one, I've been extremely impressed with Eden Marketplace and their commitment to South Orange. Even my relatives, from Staten Island, make sure to shop at Eden marketplace for their quality produce and specialty items when they come for a visit. I see Eden Marketplace as the "gem" of South Orange. So, there's no wonder why I would I wouldn't want to be a part of their family."

Barranco's enthusiasm for the partnership is the icing on the cake. "Our Dreamcakes are very complimentary to their business," explains Barranco. "Eden Marketplace has an in-house caterer while Above has a gorgeous third floor reception hall looking out onto the heart of South Orange. Our custom specialty cakes and cupcake tiers will be available in both venues. They will also be available for order on the main floor, in their fine bakery section."

Not only does Barranco take local inspiration, but she works with a homegrown team. "Our Dreamcakes are made by a team of experienced pastry chefs, designers and local artists, who are passionate about what they do. By the way, we were able to offer our first internship to a resident of South Orange who recently completed her studies at a top culinary school in New York city. Along with my team, my experience as a design professional makes designing cakes, well, a piece of cake."
