Extreme Heat on Weds and Thurs.: Advice from Village President
South Orange Public Library is a cooling center
A heat advisory is in effect on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
Temperatures of near 100 degrees are forecast along with high humidity. The heat index is predicted to rise to 103 degrees on Thursday afternoon.
From Village President, Alex Torpey:
People should definitely feel free to stop into any municipal buildings like the library or hang out and visit any of our downtown stores to get out of the heat for a bit.
Some advice would be to make sure to stay hydrated, check up on anyone living alone, especially anyone not in good health or very young or old and to not hesitate at all to call 911 if they are feeling ill, as heat-related illnesses can be very serious.

Additionally, in the case of significant extended heat, the Village will implement emergency plans and notifications, extending operational hours and expanding notifications to high-risk Villagers.
