South Orange resident Judith Garber was the top female finisher in Saturday morning's July Fourth 5k race in Maplewood. The 19-year-old Garber finished in 21:20, for 23rd place overall, out of 250 competitors.
Morristown resident Karl O’Reilly was the eventual winner, coming in at 16:10, which was nearly a minute faster than his closest competitor.
“It was a very fair course,” O’Reilly, 29, said after his run. “It was tough enough. The last stretch is not too bad because it’s downhill, but there were quite a few twists and turns.”
The funds generated by the event go to the Columbia High School Cross Country team, which hosted the event. For a complete list of finishers and their times, visit www.compuscore.com.
