Jane Aronson To Speak on School Issues for Adopted Kids
Adoption specialist is guest speaker at Adoptive Parents Committee meeting Sunday at Words Bookstore.
Adoption expert and Maplewood resident Dr. Jane Aronson will be addressing specific issues and concerns that adopted children face in school at Words Bookstore on Sunday, March 10 at 6 p.m.
The event is part of a special meeting of the Adoptive Parents Committee New Jersey Chapter. APC is a 50-year-old organization with chapters in NY, NJ and CT.
According to Aronson, adopted children often feel overwhelmed and have learning challenges. She will discuss how to promote a healthy environment in which they can learn.
"When kids are overwhelmed in school, don't pressure and push... find out why," said Dr. Aronson. "Learning challenges are common. Your children need to love learning, not fear it."
Dr. Aronson is the parent of two adopted sons. She is an internationally renowned pediatrician specializing in orphaned children and the founder and CEO of the Worldwide Orphans Foundation.
There will be a roundtable discussion following the talk, which is free and open to the public.
