Legos and Art; Tea and Jam (Dance Jam, that is!)

Art activities, tea parties and lego clubs round out winter break week

 

This week is the tail-end of winter break, and for many of us the desperation level is reaching level 10! There are still lots of fun break activities being offered in the area, including art workshops, American Girl tea parties and of course the weekly events that are always going on at our local libraries. So, with only 3 more days left of break, what will you do with your kids?

Winter Break Art Workshop
Where/When: Express Yourself Studios; Thursday, February 24th; 9am-12pm

Why go: Participants will create paintings using a mix of mediums (acrylics, watercolor, and pastels) and other projects using a myriad of materials (clay & paper collages). All materials are included, 3-hours of studio time.

How much: $150 for the week or $45 per child/per day

American Girl Tea Party featuring Addy
Where/When:
Parteaz, Maplewood; Friday, February 25th, 11:00-12:30

Why go: In honor of Black History Month, Parteaz and It's SEW Crafty will be having an American Girl Tea Party featuring Addy. Bring your own American girl for a lovely afternoon of games, treats and crafts that Addy would have done during 1864. Have a fancy lunch and Tea Party with your doll. Make delicious mini pies. Sew a bean doll with "It's Sew Crafty." Play some games of the Civil war period. Have tons of fun! Ages 5-10.

How much: $40 for 1 child- $35 each for 2 or more; Lunch, "Tea" & Dessert included!

Family Dance Jam Class
Where/When:
Stories in Motion; Saturdays (starting February 26th); 10:15am-11am.

Why go: Get your whole family moving with this energetic class at Stories in Motion! Children and families can come experience the joy of movement, dance making, and storytelling in a creative, stimulating and playful environment.

Sunday Stories and Crafts
Where/When:
Millburn Public Library; Sunday, February 27th; 2-3pm

Why go: Sunday afternoons can be a snooze. Find something to do at the library! Read a story and do a related craft; ages 4-6

How much: Free!

Lego Club
Where/When: South Orange Public Library; Monday, February 28th; 3:45-5pm

Why go: For ages 9 and up; Legos are an artform unto themselves! From buildings and cars, to portraits and animals, see what your child can create with these classic toys.

How much: Free!
