Local Teens to Perform in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
South Orange and Maplewood teenagers will perform in a cast of 60 in a song-and-dance finale.
Danielle A. Mills and Christopher Murphy of South Orange and Tyler Pease and Seth Wolin of Maplewood have been selected to perform at the 83rd annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The four teens attended Stagedoor Manor Performing Arts Training Center in Loch Sheldrake, N.Y., this summer and will join 60 fellow performers from that program in a first ever singing/dancing finale for the parade, which is viewed live by over 2 million spectators along the route and an estimated 65 million NBC viewers.
Danielle, 15, has appeared as Oliver at the Livingston Playhouse and in "The Nutcracker" with the New Jersey Ballet.
Christopher has appeared in "Oliver," "Seussical" and "Peter Pan" with the Livingston Community Players; in "Dead Man Walking" at Fairleigh Dickinson; and in "Urinetown" and "Into the Woods" at The Lawrenceville School.
Tyler, 16, has appeared in "The Wiz" and "Once on This Island" at Columbia High School and "High School Musical," "Seussical" and "Once Upon a Mattress" in middle school.
Seth, 16, has appeared in performances at Maplewood Middle School and Columbia High School, including the current Parnassian production, and plays concerts with his band, Shortline.
Over 400 singer-dancers auditioned and applied for the Macy's performance troupe. There are 22 states and 3 countries represented in the cast, ages 10 to 18. Students will bring a new twist to the Santa Claus finale, performing in front of the Macy's flagship store on 34th Street.
