New Owner, Familiar Store Schedules Reopening

Ashley Market replaces Eden Gourmet in South Orange

South Orange's favorite market has a new name and logo. Ashley Marketplace replaces Eden Gourmet after a change of ownership at the end of January. The change will be celebrated with a grand re-opening event on March 2 and 3.

The new owner, said a store representative, owns Aspen Marketplace in Hoboken.

Above remains under its original ownership. Only the former Eden Gourmet has changed hands.

Ashley Marketplace released the followed statement on Monday:

Hello Everyone!  You may have heard that Eden Marketplace has changed hands...we are now Ashley Marketplace!  We are very excited to be a part of the Aspen Marketplace family (of Hoboken) and we will continue to bring you only the best products around.

You will still see all the smiling faces and helpful staff you have come to know and love and we will do our best to continue the standard of excellence that Eden Gourmet brought to Essex County!

Please join us on March 2nd & 3rd for our Grand Re-Opening!

We are currently working on setting up our website and Facebook pages so please have patience with us during this transition.

I hope they will still keep the same wonderful butcher. Eden has always had the very best meats of any store in the area.

I understand that they don't expect to make big changes, so let's hope so. Marty is very knowledgeable.

I agree about the butchers and would add their fishmongers. I've long preferred Eden to Whole Foods or T. Joe's for fish and meat.
