Oheb Shalom's New Group Creates 'Yofi' Memories for Families

Beautiful family memories of meaningful experiences are on the group's calendar. All are welcome.

Oheb Shalom Congregation has just launched a new initiative, aimed at creating "yofi," or "beautiful" memories for families. The group, named Yofi, is for families with young children up to the age of 10 years old.

The group offers an opportunity to meet other families in the Jewish community with young children, and also do something fun and active as a family. On Sunday, Sept. 18, Yofi held its kick-off event, Apple Picking at Wightman's Farm in Morristown. The kids and adults all had fun picking apples, said participants, running through the hay bale maze, eating donuts, cider and just enjoying the fall weather. "We all agreed that having the event motivated us to take our kids and partake in an activity that we might not have done on our own," said a participants. "We met new people and just enjoyed the community of friends around us."

Yofi has met with rave reviews thus far, say participants, and plans to have many more events including some social and some charitable programs are in the works. Planned events include a Sukkah hop, a visit from "The Lizard Guy," Daughters of Israel Hanukah Party-visit to home for the aged, and Turtle Back Zoo visits.
