The Columbia High School Girls Fencing Team beat Montgomery High, 14-13, last night to win the NJSIAA/Bollinger Championships at Morris Hills in Rockaway. It was the girls first state championship since 2008.
Boosting the girls to victory were Haley Hart, who went 3-0 in epee, Alexis Auer at 2-1 in epee, and Rachel Viqueira, who went 3-0 in foil.

While the boys hoped to three-peat at the state championships, they lost to Mendham in a squeaker — 14-13. Standouts for Columbia included Andrew Kelly (3-0 in sabre) and Stowe Hammarberg (3-0 in sabre) and Jared LeBron (2-1 in foil).
