For more than 35 years, the Elks Handicapped Children's Committee has been hosting yearly trips to the Turtle Back Zoo.

Over 35 years ago, Eric Flanagan—one of the South Orange Elks' Handicapped Children's Committee members—started organizing a trip to the Turtle Back Zoo for children from local schools. It's become a yearly tradition that now includes the entire North Central Elks District.
Almost 1,000 children and aides attended on May 4 in the rain to enjoy a day with games, a DJ, lunch and prizes.
