Same old, same old. I've seen pse&g in Maplewood -- not S. Orange. And while our own town echoed pse&g claim (or created the fiction) that many homes had been restored, the Patch knows of no one.. Do you?

Calling our county executive made a difference at a similar time with the mayor making all sorts of claims about how plugged in he was.

973-621-4400 is the number for County Exec. Dial it Monday and ask to speak to him. Last year that got an aide to the phone and in hours forgotten parts of our town were lit up. I'm just one guy. Let many more jam the phones there. Also, very important to call PSE&G daily. If they light up a grid near you and you don't have power, they will forget about you. Stay on their radar and let them know how forgotten we are in storms. A chorus has a better chance of being heard. Spread the word on this. The utility tracks how many calls they get from towns. Our best course is not to sit on our hands, but make these calls. Maybe try congressman too.

And would someone tell them he's not the mayor, but rather the Village President

Also, numbers are understated. Call Pse&g. If you figure your neighbor's call covers you, it means they have an artificially low percentage of the town out. They only count houses that report and then report again when there is restoration nearby, but not at your house. Be counted for everyone's sake.

Thanks for the advice. Called yesterday. Do folks know if there is a mechanism to call a town hall meeting in the village? I'm asking because it really is in our collective self-interest to figure out ways to help one another while the power outages last, put pressure on the officials in the city to provide more public space for people to use in the meantime and to understand that they are accountable to us as a collective, and develop some kind of preventive strategy for the next time we are hit with something like this. I just don't understand the levels of insensitivity from officials in this town, some of whom don't even know how to respond to concerned residents about basic questions they should have thought about (like how do I get to work in New York City; what's up with the Jitney, etc). And I really don't think we can just go back to our regular lives without some kind of collective plan so that next big call from nature hits and we are just stranded and without a strategy. Can't remember now if this is day five or six without power for me, but what has always disappointing to me about this town is our inability to imagine ourselves as having a stake in the well-being of everyone else, regardless of socio-economic circumstances.

Still no power! As usual Crest Circle and Blanchard Rd are never restored until last possible moment.

Is power restored as of Sunday morning?

Sunday morning. Still no power. Still no heat. Still no sign of PSE&G. Until the have competition nothing will change. And for this they will raise our rates

Sunday AM . Live wire(s) in backyard prevent anything else moving forward. Neighbors have been wonderful and sense of community strong .Lack of light feels worse than lack of heat so far. Any updates on gas station supplies locally? Bill Webb

The weird part to the story is that PSE&G is working hard. They designated South Orange as a high priority. Yet, while there status didn't change, they accidentally left South Orange off a press release. Then... even though the status didn't change... folks flipped out about the "press release" being wrong. Why distract PSE&G by demanding they fix a typo and not allow them focus on continuing to work???

I have yet to see one pse&g truck in so. orange. Not one. We have a downed line in our next door neighbors yard. It's a live wire and its not a fenced yard. Our neighbor is 91. There are lots of children and pets on our block. They tell us they have known about it since Tuesday.

No electric work in S.O. until Tues, per the latest PSEG workforce schedule.

Where did you see that? Their website still says restoration on Monday night. Then again they said Clifton would be last night and my parents there are still out.

PSEG website and service reps (yes I got a live one) keep saying end of day tomorrow. Well, I guess we will know soon enough. By Wednesday when it is going to rain would be nice.

About 30 minutes ago. But I honestly do not take it at face value.

Just called pse&g to report an outage. The recording says they have no record of us being out!!! They said restoration would be by next Friday the 9th

As of now, no sign of PSE&G or outsourced help in Tuxedo Park.

And PSE&G email was false. Current PSE&G worksheet shows work starting later than reported. Call county exec at 972 621 4400. They have pull. S.O. town govt getting lip service. Flood county exec with calls.

Still no power on Mayhew Drive. This is so frustrating!
