Last Chance: Shakespeare Lives at Columbia High Festival on Friday

The tenth annual festival is open to the public

William Shakespeare lives again at Columbia High School. His words will echo through the auditorium and the halls will fill with his memorable characters on Friday, April 27, at Columbia High School’s Tenth Annual Shakespeare Festival. The festival is the culmination of years' work and a week of Shakespeare celebrations around the high school. The event is free and open to the public.

Master of Revels (and English teacher) Steve MacPherson organizes the event. This year, MacPherson also teaches a new course, Intro to Shakespearean Literature. The course, an elective, is described here in an article written by Dylan Reichman, Class of 2012.

The Shakespeare Festival will performances by groups of classmates and members of the Shakespeare Club. This year's theme is "Villains." Reichman notes that "the festival is expected to feature excerpts from plays such as Cymbeline, Measure for Measure, Richard III and Titus Andronicus – plays typically not taught in high school."
