South Orange Elections: Debate Scheduled for Tuesday

VP candidates will meet at SHU

The two candidates for Village President , Alex Torpey and Janine Bauer, will meet in a debate on Tuesday. Village Liaisons and the League of Women Voters are holding the only debate for this election cycle at Jubilee Hall on the Seton Hall campus, Tuesday, April 26 at 8p.m.-10p.m.  This event is free and open to the public. The debate will be live streamed and a video recording of the debate will be released to SOMAtv.

The election is May 10, 2011. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.

Deadline to apply for an “Application for Vote by Mail Ballot” for the Municipal Election is May 3, 2011.  Download the “Application for Vote by Mail Ballot” here.

Apply in person at the Essex County County Clerk's Office up until 3 p.m. May 3, 2011.

Who:

Alex Torpey and Janine Bauer, now serving as a trustee, are running for Village President. The winner will serve a four-year term, replacing the incumbent, .

Deborah Davis Ford, Howard Levison, and Mark Rosner are running for re-election. They are for four-year terms.

Davis Ford and Levison have been trustees since 2007; Rosner was appointed in 1998 and has been re-elected for three terms since then.
