South Orange Finds Fitness Up and Around the Avenue
New and growing fitness options for men and women
Got it? Let's take it from the top.
South Mountain Yoga moved in June from 9 Scotland Road to an architect-designed space at 18 South Orange Avenue.
The new space is on the second floor of the 100-year-old historic building that also houses Chase Bank. It is the former home of the Town Hall Deli.
“We love South Orange, and we love being in one of her oldest buildings,” said owner Emma Magenta.
Then, this summer, D&I Fitness moved to 9 Scotland Road. The Muay Thai kickboxing studio is run Kru Delon Nelson, certified kickboxing instructor and founder of D&I Fitness.Delon will offers a variety of traditional Muay Thai and strength and conditioning classes.
"Quality instruction meets old-fashioned atmosphere in this beautiful upcoming site," say D&I staffers. "Warm gray tones, black and white photography, and a partially restored 1930’s ceiling give the studio the classic, vintage feel of an old-school boxing gym."
Then, just this week, Ladies Workout Express moved to a "bigger and better" location at 65A South Orange Avenue. The 5000-foot premises is the former home of Puerto Vallarta restaurant and shares a parking lot with D&I, South Orange Pharmacy, Sparkhouse, and Robyn Ross among others.
Ladies Workout Express, formerly 1000-feet of space, how has room for more dance, more fitness, more equipment and -- coming in January -- childcare.
And post-workout, South Orange Pharmacy has a generous supply of notions and potions to work out those muscle kinks. So get fit, South Orange, without leaving town!
