South Orange Goes to Campus for Coffee

Locals jonesing for their favorite brew find it at Seton Hall

Coffee drinkers are brand-loyal, it seems. When the South Orange Avenue Dunkin' Donuts closed for renovation in early October, some locals found their way to the next closest Dunkin' Donuts, on the Seton Hall campus.

"To be honest," said Cara Sabella, "I was never here, at Seton Hall, before." Sabella stood just outside the Walsh Library clutching a large coffee and a box of donuts. "I had read about how there was a new Dunkin' Donuts here, and I remember thinking it was a good idea -- students plus coffee, right? -- so I came to campus when my regular place closed."

Sabella's not the only resident drawn to Seton Hall by coffee and donuts, and she is not only one impressed by what she sees.

"This is a really nice place," said resident Tony, who declined to give his last name. "Seton Hall is pretty and this library is big. My kids have come here for basketball games with school, but this is my first time on the campus."

The South Orange Avenue store's renovation is moving forward, though there is no firm date for reopening. In the meantime, locals can find what they love on campus, due east on South Orange Avenue.

Want to visit SHU? John Nash, the mathematician profiled in "A Beautiful Mind" comes to campus in November.
