South Orange Police Blotter: Impersonating a Police Officer, Bike Burglary Arrests

The following arrest information was provide by the South Orange Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

 
  • On Jan. 21, a Seton Hall University student reported that at approximately 9:30 p.m., he was walking on South Orange Ave. in the area of Riggs Pl. when he was robbed at knife point by two Hispanic males.  The victim stated that the men approached him from the rear and demanded his money as one of them held a small pocket knife in their hand.  The victim stated that he turned over his wallet to the men and they fled on foot west on South Orange Ave.  One man is described as being approximately 5'9" in height, wearing dark jeans, a black jacket and a black ski hat.  The other is described as being approximately 5'11" in height and wearing all dark clothing.  Both men were believed to be in there late 20's. 

  • Adewole Sajimi, a 19 year old Teaneck resident, was arrested on Jan. 24 at 11:02 a.m. after he was found to be in possession of marijuana while in his dorm room at Seton Hall University.  Sajimi was arrested after Seton Hall Security personnel contacted the Police inference to the offense. The subject was arrested without incident and processed accordingly. 

  • Kaslet Gabriel, a 27 year old Irvington resident, was arrested on Jan. 25 at approximately 5 p.m. after he was found to be in possession of a Police Placard while on Sloan St.  Gabriel was caught presenting the item to an individual from the Parking Authority professing to be on official police business.  Officers arriving on the scene determined that Gabriel was not a Law Enforcement Officer and was illegally in possession of the placard.  Gabriel was placed under arrest at the scene and processed accordingly. 

  • A 16 year old South Orange resident was arrested on Jan. 27 at approximately 8 p.m. when officers working an underage alcohol detail observed the juvenile to be in possession of alcohol.  He had just received it from another individual who had purchased it.  The juvenile was taken into custody and processed accordingly.

  • Three juveniles were arrested on Jan. 29 at approximately 2:30 p.m. after a Richmond Ave. resident observed them remove a BMX bicycle from her neighbor's yard and promptly notified the police.  The juveniles were apprehended a short distance away, transported to police headquarters and processed accordingly.  The bicycle was recovered at the scene.
