South Orange Square Moves Forward
75 South Orange Avenue has a facelift and a new name.
“We’ve learned a lot about the building,” says Jared Hutter of Wainco Realty. His firm is busily renovating 75 South Orange Ave., the culmination of a project that began more than a year ago, when the second floor was given a facelift. In 2008, Wainco updated the wallpaper and carpentry upstairs.
Recently, the company had work done on the building’s exterior. The most visible change is to the South Orange Avenue entrance, where not only has granite been removed, but a new door and windows were installed. “We’ll have stone panels along the base” of the building, explains Hutter. “Then we’ll have stucco above that, and the top will be repainted.” The planned paint job will highlight the historical architectural features around the top of the building.
By spring, residents will see two signs, one on Scotland Road and one on South Orange Avenue. Along with its new look, the building will have a new name, South Orange Square. “We’re giving the building more presence,” says Hutter.
