Sparkhouse Kids/SOMe Book Nook Hosts Pajama Party

Children's book author Raina Moore read from her book "How Do You Say Good Night?"

In Raina Moore's children's book "How Do You Say Good Night?", a cat is asked that exact question. The cat answers by saying, "Soft pajamas, soft light, soft pillow, just right. That's how I say good night." At Sparkhouse Kids/SOMe Book Nook on Sunday afternoon, all of the cat's items were there, minus the cat. Instead, kids dressed in their pajamas listened to Moore read from her book, shared cookies and milk, and created their own lambs in pajamas.

Moore began the event by singing an original song complete with arm movements, and the children were quickly moving their arms as well. Once settled onto their pillows, Moore began reading from "How Do You Say Good Night?", her first children's book. Born in Los Angeles and currently living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, she said she was inspired to write a bedtime story that possessed the rhythms of a song.

The book not only asks a cat how it says good night, but also a myriad of other animals, including a lamb. After the reading, the children were given small brown paper bags, cutout pajamas, a paper version of a lamb's head, cotton balls, glue and crayons. Can you figure out what the children made? That's right ... pajama-wearing lamb puppets.

The children had a wonderful time thanks to Moore's easy-going style and her sincere affection for the children she writes for.
