Trees Starting to Come Down, Power Losses Widen

Reports are coming in from around South Orange

 

There were an increasing number of reports of downed trees and lost power Monday afternoon throughout Maplewood and South Orange, due to the increasing severity of Hurricane Sandy. Reports came in regarding numerous streets, including Mountain House Road, Mayhew Drive, Ridgewood Road, and S. Wyoming Avenue  among others.

South Orange Public Works employees were out in force this afternoon, now working on trees in West Montrose. 

Katie Simpson reports a downed cherry tree in her front yard on Jefferson Road, Barbara Heisler commented on Maplewood Patch's Facebook page: "Just heard one was down on Mountain (Golf Island.)"  Jen Thorson reports a tree down and power out on Sunset and Wyoming. Trees are down near Floods Hill, including one on Meadowbrook.
