On Tuesday afternoon, the section of South Orange Avenue between Church and Sloan streets. was closed off to traffic, with the exception of one truck. Upon closer inspection, it became apparent why the one truck was allowed on the road...it was stuck.

The South Orange Police Department responded to the stuck truck, whose driver tried unsuccessfully to squeeze the 13 foot truck under the bridge, which has a clearance of 11 feet and 11 inches.

To the driver's credit, his wife, who was riding with him, said the company that hired the driver is in charge of scheduling the route.  Usually the company will send out an alert when there is a bridge that cannot accomodate a truck of that size.

To remove the truck, the driver letting air out of the tires, which lowered the truck so it fit out of the tunnel.  Once freed, the South Orange Fire Department fixed the damage left by the truck, which included hanging wires under the tunnel.

The driver was unharmed in the incident.
