Families from the South Orange/Maplewood area (and beyond, judging by the numerous out-of-state state license plates) reached NASCAR-like speeds while sledding down frozen Flood's Hill on Saturday.
Heard on the slope: "Wow, that was awsome; let's do it again!"; "I'm too tired to climb back up the Hill"; and "Let's go home and have some hot chocolate!"
A note to prospective vendors: the summertime ice cream trucks could have done a brisk business serving hot chocolate and other warm beverages.

Editor's note: We heard last week that a girl was injured while sledding, and we contacted Police Chief Chelel for more details. According to him, a 15-year-old female from Maplewood injured her back while sledding on Thursday at about 2:45 p.m. She was taken to St. Barnabas, and a parent was notified.
