Time is running out for the administration to make an honorable change of position here. Everyone should understand that we cannot expect the affected teachers to go for a "Donaldson" hearing, or take the position that our elected representatives can do nothing to help them unless they appeal. For appealing to a Donaldson hearing could make it harder for them to get another job; if they have lawyers, their lawyers will probably advise against such an appeal, even if they have a very strong case.

Contrary to a lot of current talk on this, there are still things the public and the Board of Education can do on this matter. It can request a full review of the case. It can pass non-binding resolutions signaling its doubts about the current building-level leaders at SOMS unless they reconsider. And there are more dramatic possible steps as well. Let's hope we do not have to go there.
