What's Open, What's Closed for Thanksgiving

Before going out, check this list!

Thanksgiving is celebrated on Thursday. The day is both a federal and state holiday in New Jersey.

   ■ Post offices will be closed; there will be no regular mail delivery.

   ■ Public schools and banks have the option to close.

   ■ State and local government offices and courts will be closed.

   ■ Financial and stock markets will be closed Thursday, but will also close at 1 p.m. on Friday.

   ■ NJ Transit trains will run on a weekend/major holiday schedule, with extra trains running on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Raritan Valley and Morris & Essex lines to accommodate customers traveling to and from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

   ■ Bus schedules will vary by route and some routes may be affected. Starting Friday and until Christmas Eve, there will be additional bus service to major New Jersey shopping destinations throughout the day. Family Super Saver fares will be in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Monday. For further details, refer to timetables, check NJ Transit or call (973) 275-5555.

  ■ PATH trains will operate on a Saturday schedule.

Great idea to post this. What about Friday? Obviously stores will be open but what about other types of businesses? Seems to me a lot of people have that day off, too.
