A group of residents will host a multi-family Charity Yard Sale on Sunday, June 10 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at 95 Tuscan Road in Maplewood. All proceeds from the sale will be given to HK Community Fund for Cheryl Galante, a Maplewood single mother who was seriously injured in a car accident on May 21.

HK Community Fund, which is coordinating overall donations for Cheryl Galante, will be matching the funds. There will be lots of toys, kids' shoes, girls and boys clothes, kitchen items, maternity wear, infant gates, female clothes, household decor and more. 

Galante sustained very serious injuries including a broken neck, requiring her to wear a halo neck brace for the next four months. A freelance consultant with three children and no health insurance, she is now unable to earn any income or to pay her bills, and is in danger of losing her home.

The sale has been organized by Debbie Galatis, who, by the way, does not know Galante personally (do not be confused by the similarities in the last names!). Galatis called on a number of other local moms to help pull together a yard sale on short notice.

Along with Galatis, the other women involved are: Heather Swift, Laurie Zlotnick, Sandy Troesch, Michele Robinson, Sandy Rustin, Casey Hushion, Christine Hummel, MaryBeth Boppert, Gail Gendler and Denise Federico.

"We are all moms and mostly working mothers and can't imagine what Cheryl must be going through at this time," said Swift.

Cheryl did a great deal of work to raise funds to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina — and now she needs the community's help. Come to the Yard Sale on Sunday, and also consider making a donation through HK Community Fund. Here is the information:
