Zayda's Set to Move to Eden Gourmet

The deli leaves its Irvington Ave. location next week

The signs on Zayda's windows read "Pardon our appearance. Changes are just around the corner!" The change is a move downtown. Zayda's will move from its current Irvington Ave. location to Eden Gourmet marketplace starting next week, as confirmed by Lia Malatesta of Eden Gourmet.

The move will be complete by the end of July. Zayda's will offer food in an area near the front of the store. Its kitchens will be separate and remain kosher.

Eden Gourmet has sold Zayda's frozen prepared foods since it opened in South Orange, as owner Andrew Halper told Patch in Feb. He noted then that a willingness to change with the times has been critical to Zayda's success. Halper added that the move will allow shoppers to purchase Zayda's good seven days each week; the Irvington Ave. site closes on Fri. afternoons and Sats.

"We have a lot to offer one another," said Malatesta of the new venture. "This will add to downtown and to the store."

Stay tuned: Patch will preview Zayda's new space in the next several days.
