Summer's here. Time for open toes and lots of skin. So far, so good, right? It's also time to look at what's out there on the runways that we call local streets.  Here goes:

I'm seeing plaid and more plaid and it's not just because my screenname is PlaidCad. No, plaid is peeking out of shorts (boxers!) and long-sleeved shirts are draped over t-shirts. It works, kind of, but advice: you'll be worn out of the Stewart tartan long before fall. Give the plaid a rest!

Hats, man! I see more wearing hats, not baseball caps. Three cheers and toss your beret in the air like Mary Tyler Moore! This is a huge fashion step forward.

More good news: I saw a man on South Orange Avenue wearing a cravat -- bold, brave, fashion-forward. Gold star!

Not such good news: Uggs. Um, it's hot out, ladies. Those boots are barely excuseable when the weather is bad, but in summer???  No!
