As village crews continue to remove limbs, brush, and debris from the historic October snow storm - which generated approximately 50% more debris than Hurricane Irene - we want residents to know how the work is progressing and what they can do to help.

What the Village is doing:

• As of November 7, the Village has ten trucks dedicated to hauling brush and waste from the storm, including those operated by private contractors
• DPW is operating on a 14x7 schedule until recovery work is complete
• DPW has dedicated a crew to specifically examine public property for dangerous or hanging branches and remove them immediately
• The Village is in contact with the County to clear debris and branches from County roads.

What you need to know:

• Brush and debris clearing is expected to be completed by this weekend, at which point leaf collection, which is being delayed currently, will be resumed.
• Green toter recycling is suspended this month, though residents can still bring recyclables to DPW during normal recycling hours (excluding election day, which is a holiday)
• The Village is asking residents to inspect branches and trees on their own property, and make private arrangements to remove anything potentially hazardous - this will significantly mitigate potential for damage or power outage next storm.
• The Village is asking for residents’ full cooperation to only bring small branches (approx. less than 4 inches thick) to the curb and, as always, making private arrangements for anything larger. Do not leave debris in the street where it can be block traffic or emergency vehicles.
• If there is a tree or branch on your property hanging on a wire, report it to PSE&G immediately at 1-800-436-7734
