Update on NJT Schedules and Meetings

Happy New Year to all. It's been a while and we thought an quick update was needed.

As many of you are aware, as of this past Monday, NJT has restored pre-Sandy train schedules to New York. That is a great milestone for them given the scope of the damage. Unfortunately, Hoboken commuters still have some time before full restoration. We have not heard anything official, but have read another month or two before that happens.

Many people have noticed since the first of the year NJT employees with counters on the evening trains. The data they are collecting will be analyzed and used to hopefully implement appropriate revisions to the schedules. This is a direct result of our meetings back in December. We will be having a follow up meeting with NJT on January 29 to learn what the data collection revealed and what schedule revisions will be made, if any.

In addition, we have been notified that another meeting has been scheduled with NJT, elected officials from the 27th District, South Orange Village President, and the Mayors of Livingston and West Orange. We hope to learn the outcome of that meeting as well so any information can be passed along to all of you.
Thank you again for your support in this effort and hopefully it wont be much longer before we get the appropriate level of train service restore to South Orange.

I travel to and from NYC through Hoboken everyday. I can report that - at least for my personal commute - service has been restored to pre-sandy. Actually, my morning and evening commute are not only pre-sandy, but pre October 14th schedule.
