Words is thrilled to present an afternoon of discussion with journalist and author Steven V. Roberts. His new book, From Every End of This Earth: 13 Families and the New Lives They Made in America, has been praised by David Ignatius in The Washington Post : "Roberts chronicles our national miracle of drawing together and assimilating diverse people who are drawn, as the title says, 'from every end of this earth.' Far from posing a threat, the new immigrants -— with their hustle and drive and their yearning for success —- are America's secret weapon in the global economic competition."
Steven V. Roberts is the author of My Fathers' Houses and has worked as a journalist for more than forty years, including positions at U.S. News & World Report and at The New York Times. Roberts and his wife, television journalist and author Cokie Roberts, write a popular nationally syndicated newspaper column.

More About Words Bookstore
Words appeared on Maplewood Ave. in Jan., 2009, shortly after the close of Goldfinch books around the corner on Baker. Though Words has over twice the selection and size of Goldfinch, this is not a case of a new business behemoth crushing a beloved little Mom and Pop business.
The stores share common DNA; shortly before it closed, Goldfinch was purchased by Maplewood resident Jonah Zimiles, the owner of Words. The new store has the same ambiance, focus and employees as Goldfinch. But with more room to play with, it has expanded its selection and hours of operation.
Noteworthy offerings at the store include a robust special needs section and a children’s seating area with table, chairs, rug and bean bag chairs as well as two other seating areas.
