DESCRIPTION:Dr. Ilyse O'Desky is the director of the Neuropsychological T
 esting Center. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ye
 shiva University in 1992. Prior to receiving her doctoral degree\, she c
 ompleted an internship specializing in neuropsychological assessment of 
 adults and geriatric patients at Lyons VA Medical Center.\nUpon the comp
 letion of her degree\, she worked in the Department of Neuropharmacology
  as a Senior Research Associate at Western Psychiatric Institute and Cli
 nic\, part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She later ret
 urned to New Jersey in order to complete a post-doctoral position in ped
 iatric neuropsychology at the Institute for Basic Research in Developmen
 tal Disabilities in Staten Island.\nActively engaged in research\, in 20
 03\, Dr. O'Desky received the Richard A. Schere/New Jersey Psychological
  Association Applied Researcher of the Year Award for her work on the ov
 er-diagnosis of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder in children. Sh
 e also received the Psychologist Recognition Award from the NJ Psycholog
 ical Association in 2006.\nDr. O'Desky has spoken at numerous local and 
 national professional conferences on topics including:\n\nParenting chil
 dren with ADHD\nRecognizing the differences between ADHD\, NLD and Asper
 ger's Syndrome\nTeaching children with learning differences in a traditi
 onal classroom and many more.\n\nIn addition to being the director of th
 e Neuropsychological Testing Center in Springfield\, New Jersey\, Dr. O.
 Desky is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psycholog
 y at Kean University and Chief of Psychology at Saint Barnabas Medical C
 enter. She is also actively engaged in research involving genetic disord
 ers and their relationship to learning disabilities\, issues surrounding
  Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and she received a grant to st
 udy Non-Verbal Learning Disorder.\nWHAT IS PEDIATRIC NEUROPSYCHOLOGY?\nP
 ediatric neuropsychology&nbsp\;deals with the relationship of children's
  learning and behavior to their brain structures and systems. A learning
  disability does not mean your child is incapable of gaining knowledge a
 nd growing\; instead it means a different method of teaching must be app
 lied.\nPediatric neuropsychologists&nbsp\;are first and foremost license
 d psychologists who have developed expertise in how the development of a
  child's brain impacts their learning and behavior. They are professiona
 l psychologists who evaluate patients\, analyze the test results\, and b
 ased upon that\, devise a targeted educational program or treatment plan
