The South Orange Public Library is continuing its foreign film series on Tuesday, May 29th with Los Olvidados, directed by Luis Bunuel. The film is about a group of street kids who live a violent and crime-filled life in the slums of Mexico City. The screening will be followed by a discussion led by Gerard Amsellem.
The theme of the series is “Youth on Their Own,” and each film explores issues involving disaffected, abandoned or rebellious youth. Each screening will be followed by a discussion led by a film expert.
The final film in the series is City of God, to be shown on June 26 at 7 pm.

The library is open seven days a week. The children's room is on the ground floor, and the main library is on the second floor with stacks on the third floor.
There are 230 newspaper and magazine titles besides microfilm holdings of the New York Times and the South Orange/Maplewood News Record.
Library cards are available to South Orange residents with one form of identification that includes their address. Children can obtain library cards as soon as they're able to print their full names. Melissa Kopecky is the librarian.
