DESCRIPTION:The Rahway River Association\, in cooperation with Seton Hall
  University\, the South Mountain Conservancy and the New Jersey Conserva
 tion Foundation's 16th Annual Land Conservation Rally\, will be sponsori
 ng a field trip to Essex County's South Mountain Reservation on Friday\,
  March 9 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The trip will be an easy walking tour to 
 observe some of the deer&nbsp\;enclosures&nbsp\;that are at the heart of
  regenerating the forest understory. Dr. Marian Glenn\, RRA Board Member
 \, Forest Ecologist and Co-Director of Environmental Studies at Seton Ha
 ll University\, will describe the history and on-going efforts of this l
 ong-term project in ecological restoration undertaken&nbsp\;by Essex Cou
 nty Parks Department with volunteer support organized by the South Mount
 ain Conservancy.&nbsp\; The project employs both professional and volunt
 eer efforts to manage the deer herd by annual culling\, construction of&
 nbsp\;numerous exclosures\, planting native species and removing invasiv
 e species.&nbsp\; The South Mountain Reservation\, established in 1895\,
  is the largest park in Essex County.&nbsp\; Located in central Essex Co
 unty\, the park covers over 2000 acres in three municipalities--West Ora
 nge\, Millburn and Maplewood.&nbsp\; The park includes 19 miles of trail
 s and carriage roads\, historic sites\, a zoo\, ice arena\, and part of 
 the Rahway River. &nbsp\;&nbsp\;\nRegistration is required and space is 
 limited. &nbsp\;The&nbsp\;$20 fee includes lunch.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Please re
