The Department of Recreation offers spring, summer, fall and winter sports for children and adults. Residents can register online. It also runs the Peter S. Conner Memorial Swimming Pool, located on the opposite side of the Cameron Field baseball fields, which is open in summer. The phone number is 973-378-7766, ext. 2222. General summer swimming hours are Mon - Fri, noon - 8pm (or dusk); Sat - Sun, 10am - 8pm (or dusk).

Various classes and workshops, such as art making and dancing, are held at The Baird. Another major function of Recreation is to issue photo ID badges that must be renewed every year for access to the pool, the summer playground program and other select Recreation programs.
