 ,MA\,LDTC\,is the former First Lady ofNew Jersey\,a gifted teacher\,anda
  pioneering advocate for those whose lives have been im&shy\;pacted by o
 verwhelming emotional experiences. She has pioneered mental health servi
 ces both in New Jersey and nationally\, especially related to transformi
 ng trauma to resilience for women facing post&shy\; partum&nbsp\; &nbsp\
 ;depression &nbsp\;(PPD). She&nbsp\; &nbsp\;is &nbsp\;on the&nbsp\; &nbs
 p\;governor's Task &nbsp\;Force for MentalHealth\,and lectures widely ab
 out her personal journey to resilience. Mrs. Codey campaigns for innovat
 ions in trauma research\,and effective strategies for coping with the lo
 ss and pain associated with overwhelming experiences in everyday life. I
 n 2005\,she helped launch New Jersey's statewide "Speak Up When You're D
 own" consumer educationcampaign to support mothers suffering PPD.She was
  instrumentalin the passage of the "Mother's Law"(2006)\, which is the f
 irst law in the nation to require health care profession&shy\; als to sc
 reen mothers for postpartum depression.Mrs. Codey campaigned in Washingt
 on for passage of the Melanie Blocker-Stokes MOTHERS Act\,which was sign
 ed into law by President Obama as part of health insurance reform.
