Fun at the Library, Our Lady of Sorrows Needs Votes Today in South Orange

Find out what you need to know in South Orange for Monday.

Patch has put together some things you need to know for Monday.

This is the time of the summer when parents hear this phrase from their kids more than any other: "I'm bored!" Answer the wee ones' cry with this: Get ready for Monday Night Fun at the South Orange Public Library. The Friends of the Library feature a wide range of performers sure to surprise and delight. The night runs from 7-8 p.m. at the South Orange Library at 65 Scotland Road, and admission is free.

Keep the kids occupied all week long with the Cool Rockets & Science Summer Camp at the Baird Community Center, 5 Mead St. The fun-filled one-week course lets children age six through 11 explore the science of flight and related topics. Students will participate in experiments involving gyroscopes, hand boilers, air currents, light, water atomizers and plasma globes. And yes, they get to build stuff: unique paper airplanes and even their own model rocket. The camp, run by Montclair Public Schools math and science teacher Brad Turner, starts Monday, ends Friday and runs each day from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. For more info including cost, send email to recreation@southorange.org.

Want to do some good for a local school? Our Lady of Sorrows is in fundraising mode and looking to discount chain Target for help. The department store offers a program through which schools can try to win community votes in order to score up to $10,000 in Target gift cards to purchase school supplies. If you'd like to assist, head to http://givewith.target.com/school/24724 and cast a vote for the school.
