2014 GRANT FOR PIERRO FOUNDATION

The Lennie Pierro Memorial Arts Foundation has been awarded a 2014 grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts as administered through Essex County in recognition of their “…prior achievements as an arts provider.” The $3,920 grant will be used to expand community arts programming including an academic symposium on contemporary art at Seton Hall University, a collaborative program with the school district, a curated outdoor sculpture exhibition with artist’s talk at the Pierro Gallery, and the annual “Art Party in the Park” celebration in South Orange’s Meadowland Park. The Park is also the site of long-time resident Tony Smith’s monumental sculpture TAU, the original inspiration for the community celebration, which was first held in September 2012 to great success.
