Climate Change Day of Action in Maplewood

The conversation about Climate Change and what we can do in our communities has been going on for many years now. We now need to advance the conversation. Climate Change is real and it is already impacting our communities.  Current legislators have not committed themselves to address many issues related to climate change, like adding new pollution standards for power plants, the ability to invest in switching to clean energy or helping to build more storm resilient communities.

A study recently published by the International Panel on Climate Change found that 95% of scientists agree that man-made climate change is a reality. Storms like Superstorm Sandy, wildfires, droughts and floods are globally increasing their intensity and frequency. On Sunday, November 24, 2013 there will be a Day of Action about Climate Change at the DeHart Community Center.  The event will take place from 12 to 2 pm.  DeHart Community Center is located in 120 Burnett Ave, Maplewood, NJ 07040. (973) 763-0750

This Day of Action is sponsored by the New Jersey Organizing for Action and the Climate Reality Project. The Day of Action serves a variety of purposes: to inform the audience about the theory of Climate Change, to help educate Americans to make everyday choices about how they use their energy, to raise the level of awareness to support EPA decisions and actions to effectively reduce the pollution that is causing climate change and ultimately engage the community into civic action.
