BAYONNE, NJ – The Madeline Fiadini LoRe Foundation for the Prevention of Cancer (MFL Foundation) is continuing an aggressive effort to engage the medical community in spreading the word about cancer screening support services that the Foundation is making available.

The mission of the MFL Foundation is to make cancer prevention programs available to the uninsured community in northern New Jersey by providing the financial support necessary for individuals to access to the tests and screenings necessary for prevention of various forms of cancer including breast, colon, and prostate.
Through collaboration with Bayonne’s DermOne Dermatology Center, MFL Foundation has added skin cancer screenings to the previous initiatives to provide breast, colon, and PSA screenings. Existing arrangements with the medical community in Hudson County, specifically the Jersey City Medical Center, Bayonne Medical Center, Christ Hospital, and Hoboken University Medical Center, the Foundation makes screenings available to patients who meet a simple set of financial and medical criteria with the primary consideration requiring candidates to be working and or under-insured or uninsured.
To qualify for support for breast, colon, and PSA screenings, candidates must have visited a physician, received a prescription for the required tests, and are able to access the collaborating medical facilities. For the skin cancer screenings at DermOne, the client should call the facility at 855-853-0636 and fill out a statement at the time of the appointment pledging that they are uninsured.
“It is important for the medical community to be aware of and communicate the services offered by the MFL Foundation,” commented Carol Trojan, Executive Director of the Foundation. “Our prime motivation is to aid in the prevention and treatment of cancer and this requires that people receive the best testing treatment available. To ensure that this is the case, the Foundation is prepared to provide all or part of the financial support necessary, providing certain criteria are fulfilled.”
The MFL Foundation is a non-profit focused on prevention through support of community awareness and making cancer tests and/or screenings available to the working poor, individuals who are uninsured and above the poverty level. The Foundation works to ensure that everyone is able to maintain their necessary screenings.
BACKGROUNDER
Madeline Fiadini LoRe, founder of the Foundation, was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer at age 32. Ten years ago she learned she had breast cancer. The fight to beat that diagnosis only strengthened her resolve to bring the best possible care to area residents.
Losing her brother to liver cancer a decade ago spurred her further strengthened her resolve to begin an aggressive an fund-raising effort that resulted in the establishment of the John C. Fiadini Center for Out Patient Oncology opened at Bayonne Hospital. Subsequently, the hospital dedicated its new Madeline Fiadini Lo Re Women's Center in her honor. The, Center offers preventative screenings for a number of types of cancer.
