OLS Quiz Bowl Team Heads to Nationals, Seeks Sponsors
Our Lady of Sorrows eighth-graders to compete in Middle School National Championship in Georgia in May.
On November 23, 2013, students from Our Lady of Sorrows School, South Orange competed in the 18th Annual Pirate Open Quiz Bowl at Seton Hall Preparatory School. The Quiz bowl is an academic tournament that tests players on topics such as history, literature, geography, science, current events and more.Both OLS teams fared extremely well in the competition against both Catholic and public schools. The first team, comprised of eighth graders, Adam Budzyn, Gavin Wentworth, Christian McNeill and Kevin Goines finished the competition undefeated, earning an automatic berth into the Middle School National Championship Tournament to be held in Atlanta, Georgia on May 9-11, 2014.
The OLS students and their teacher and team coach, Mrs. Susan Patton will be holding fundraisers to help defer the costs of their trip to the Nationals. The students can only achieve their goals with the assistance of donations from members of our community.
