Seton Hall distributes toys to community

Seton Hall University’s Division of Volunteer Efforts (DOVE) distributed toys to the South Orange/Maplewood school district this afternoon, benefitting 150 families within the school district. The toy drop-off was the result of DOVE’s annual Christmas Toy Drive, which ended this week. Thomas Russomano, assistant director at DOVE, estimated that they processed over 1600 toy donations during the drive.

“DOVE’s Christmas Toy Drive is a small reminder that in our own community, many children don’t have to opportunity to celebrate the holiday season.  The toy drive is our commitment to bring the joy of the holidays to as many children as we can.  Each year, this goal is made possible through the generosity and goodness of the Seton Hall University community,” Russomano said.

Other drop-off sites included Genoa Christian Center in Wayne, WV, St. John’s Soup Kitchen in Newark, Salesians of Don Bosco in Orange. The donations delivered to the Genoa Christian Center alone will brighten Christmas for approximately 83 children.
