Editor's Notebook: Here is Another Way to Get to Newark

While NJ Transit responds to customer concerns by adding more buses, there is a very practical option for Livingston, Maplewood and South Orange-based commuters who need to get to Newark.

The CoachUSA bus #31 runs along South Orange Avenue, from Livingston Mall to Newark Penn Station, making a small loop in Maplewood.

This bus, which I have personally taken many times, is efficient and direct. Locals can get on the bus across from Village Hall in South Orange. 

The fare is per "zone." For most of us, this is a three-zone ride, which costs $2.70. More fare info is here.
